
The New Hampshire Behavioral Health Workforce Initiative is working to strengthen the state’s behavioral health workforce by expanding access to clinical training and supporting preceptors and supervisors.
Through partnerships across the state, NHBHWI is focused on reducing barriers to clinical placements and building a more sustainable workforce.

The initiative supports the development of master’s-level behavioral health clinicians, including:
NHBHWI is advancing this work through the following key strategies:
New Hampshire continues to face a shortage of licensed behavioral health clinicians, particularly in rural areas. At the same time, students and trainees often face challenges finding clinical placements and qualified supervisors.
Our colleagues at the Southern NH Area Health Education Center have created a library of trainings to support Preceptors. Login is required to view the trainings and continuing education credit is available. Please link to the NH AHEC website here:

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate effective supervision strategies, including providing constructive feedback, setting clear expectations, and managing challenging interpersonal dynamics when working with interns and early-career clinicians.
2. Apply evidence-based teaching and supervision approaches to support the clinical competence and professional development of interns and early-career clinicians and promote high-quality, inclusive patient care.
